The Wolf's Mate
review 1: Alpha wolf Jason had partially marked his mate Cadence when they were kids; he was young, but 5 yrs older than her, and feared losing her. As "punishment" he was not allowed to teller. She'd have to remember herself for him to claim her. Unfortunately because Cadence is a hybrid wolf, she doesn't realize the significance of what happened. So 14 years go by. I loved the beginning of the book, I couldn't put it down. Cadence was so feisty & the banter was fun, But somewhere in the middle she became more docile. Then the action picked up again as Chris started to vie for Cadence and Jason struggled on how to get her to pick him. Then it slowed down again. It was nice to get the tender moments but the up & down led to my 3 stars.
review 2: This was my first read b
... morey R.E. Butler. I enjoyed the unique twists she put on shifter lore. I am not a huge fan of the hero of this book. That being said, he is definitely a match for Cadence and that truly is the point. I loved how tough Cadence was even without her full wolfy powers and I adored her friendship with Callie. I actually read the first 6 books in this series all in a row and while I found this one to be the weakest of them in some ways, it really set the scene and was still quite a fun read. less
