So the next book on my long list of reviews is ‘ You Were My Crush Till You Said You Love Me!’ by Durjoy Datta.
For me, when I picked this book off the rack, I was looking for a nice cozy novel. Something that I could relate to and something Indian. Well, Durjoy Datta delivered.
The story is a simple romance story that you can relate to very easily. Set in a typical Indian background, it sees conservative parents, accidents, rich brats and rich fathers.
Pc: GoogleThe story follows the life of Benoy. Having recently lost his mother and growing up without a father, he yearns for a family, a sense of belonging. He’s spoiled and depends on his eager-to-be-forgiven father for paying his way through everything. When he gets stuck in a situation that his father can’t buy, he has no choice but to team up with nerdy Diya, and turn a new leaf.
Soon enough Benoy and Diya become best friends. But Benoy has a secret. He is secretly in love with Diya’s sister Shaina just from her Facebook and her blog. Will it work out for Benoy and Shaina? Will he lose his best friends?
As though that’s not enough, Shaina has her own secret.
The novel is a thrilling and yet simple romance novel with all the right elements. The author has done a splendid job of bringing out the characters and enveloping the readers into the story.
With twists and turns and the unexpected and still all of the expected, it is a great novel to spend a couple of hours enjoying.
The overall read is great and not too emotional. It is perfectly enjoyable.
I’d rate it a 4.1/5.
