‘You Choose in Space,’ by Nick Sharratt and Pippa Goodhart.

You could have heard the cheers from outer space when I told the book boys there was going to be a new book in the fantastic ‘You Choose’ series. Particularly when they learnt it was to be set in space – a dream combination!

We are absolutely massive fans of ‘You Choose’ and ‘Just Imagine,’ having read our way through several copies of each.  Absolutely hours have been spent poring through the glorious illustrations and pondering the question: ‘If you could go anywhere, where would you go?’ Many a debate has been had over just what everybody is allowed to select to put in their houses.  And that is the beauty of this series – the countless opportunities to elicit a conversation with your child/ a child/ any child and make up endless new adventures. I have yet to meet one who can resist the opportunity to create their very own universe with endless permutations.

The Magnificent Three – complete with gaffer tape and hanging threads!

There was a small scuffle when You Choose in Space arrived, but in the end I did the right thing and stepped aside to let the boys read it first. I was hovering over their shoulders though!

I am pleased to say that it totally lived up to our very high expectations.  The boys planned their space missions, selected their crafts, marvelled at the unitiger and set off on a trajectory aimed at the Planet Doughnut. An absolute gem of a book which I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone and everyone. Out of this world!
