5 Reasons to Get Furyborn by Claire Legrand on your TBR Immediately

So, I just finished this book, and do you ever just sit there after finishing one and go, I NEED TO CAPS LOCK FANGIRL THE CRAP OUT RIGHT NOW AND OBVIOUSLY I NEED TO MAKE A VAGUE, FANGIRLING, MOST LIKELY INCOHERENT LIST BLOG POST ABOUT IT TO DO SO. No? Just me? Wellllllllll, let’s get to it then?

I finished Furyborn by Claire Legrand a few weeks ago, and I have to tell you ladies and gentlemen, you need to get it on your TBRs immediately. It was ridiculously AMAZING/GREAT/SO SUPER GOOD/IENGAIJENGEJGRNILAEOIGJNREJG UJE. I won’t be publishing my full review until quite a bit later when the release date is much closer (it’s in super late May, so I think I will hopefully find a smidgen of book chill by then to give a nice review). But I’m still in major fangirl mode, and I know so many of you would totally love this, so here are a few reasons why you need to get this on your TBR ASAP so you can devour this book the moment it comes out.

About the Book

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes and Noble (BECAUSE YOU’RE GONNA WANT TO PREORDER THIS LOVELY)

The stunningly original, must-read fantasy of 2018 follows two fiercely independent young women, centuries apart, who hold the power to save their world…or doom it.

When assassins ambush her best friend, the crown prince, Rielle Dardenne risks everything to save him, exposing her ability to perform all seven kinds of elemental magic. The only people who should possess this extraordinary power are a pair of prophesied queens: a queen of light and salvation and a queen of blood and destruction. To prove she is the Sun Queen, Rielle must endure seven trials to test her magic. If she fails, she will be executed…unless the trials kill her first.

A thousand years later, the legend of Queen Rielle is a mere fairy tale to bounty hunter Eliana Ferracora. When the Undying Empire conquered her kingdom, she embraced violence to keep her family alive. Now, she believes herself untouchable–until her mother vanishes without a trace, along with countless other women in their city. To find her, Eliana joins a rebel captain on a dangerous mission and discovers that the evil at the heart of the empire is more terrible than she ever imagined.

As Rielle and Eliana fight in a cosmic war that spans millennia, their stories intersect, and the shocking connections between them ultimately determine the fate of their world–and of each other.

The 5 Reasons Fierce, Empowering Ladies

The book bounces back and forth between two extremely powerful, fierce, and badass ladies. We have Rielle and we have Eliana, and both of them are amazingggggggg. I totally can’t decide which one is more epic. They’re totally morally complex and conflicted but they, for sure, are empowering as hell…along with many of the female characters in this novel. SO MUCH FEMALE EMPOWERMENT I AM SO IN LOVEEEEE.

A Ridiculously Cool World

This book truly had a unique world. It might have certain elements that have been seen in worlds before, but it creates this unique blend that makes it so its own. AND I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF ITS MAGICALNESS. It truly was so fascinating, and you’re going to want to immerse yourself in it.

I Didn’t Even Care About the Romance???

Me, a princess of swoons and ships and heart eyes reads, didn’t even care about the romance because I was so focused on everything else. There was so much going on that I was screaming the entire time about other things. There were a few ships, fellow swoon lovers, and they were quite good. SOME FEELS INDEED.

Simonnnnnnnnnn

There is a character in here that I adored fiercely. I don’t think I can even begin to explain him to you or explain why I love him, but I love him dearly??? He totally is a favorite character of mine, and I just want more of baby Simon. But trust me, he fought hard to be a favorite character because I really enjoyed SO MANY OF THEM.

It Made a Hesitant Fantasy Lover Believe in Fantasy Again

I’ve always considered myself a fantasy lover, but the truth is, I would be considered fantasy lite if I was a brand of coffee. Intense, epic high fantasy? Mandy doesn’t have time for that. Having had this epiphany recently, I was a bit scared to go into this one. But I never got bored, I never got too overwhelmed by the world, and if you’re hesitant about fantasy or don’t consider yourself a fantasy lover, I didn’t think I was either, but this book has me in loveeeeeeeeeeeeee (and yes, you’re going to see a princess train coming out for it eventually).

Please tell me that I convinced you??? This book is so super good, and I can’t wait to see what everyone thinks of it when it comes out. Thanks so much to Sourcebooks Fire again for sending me over an early copy, but also why did I read this copy so very early because now I don’t know what to do with my life until the second book comes out????

What do you think? Are you going to add this to your TBR? What kind of fantasy lover are you? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
