The Three Doors Trilogy
review 1: Do you want a book that will spark your attention? The Silver Door is the second book of the Three Doors Trilogy. It is an adventure book packed with tons of thrilling adventures. I think the Silver Door is a great book! In this book, Rye wanted to save his brother Sholto who he thinks went through the Silver Door, but he comes across obstacles like: Four-Eyes' Traveling Wagon where he, his friend Sonia, and his brother Dirk get held hostage by these group of people and they throw his brother out of the wagon and puts this sleeping liquid to Sonia's face and she instantly falls asleep, while Rye is held at knife point and his small bag of powers gets ripped from his neck and they throw that too out of the wagon, another problem is when he, Sonia and the others get to ... morethis prison and they get captured and get put in a cell, but then Rye finds his brother Sholto and then Dirk finds the prison and gives Rye back his powers. So, Rye and Sholto leave the cell, (thanks to Sholto's black wand that can open doors) and find the dispatch area (the place where skimmers are bred and held prisoner) and creep past the skimmers to reach a big black circle which Sholto thinks is a door but he can't open it because his wand doesn't have that much power, so Rye uses a new power from his small bag, a key. Then, he opens the door and water sweeps in and drowns the skimmers, fortunately, Rye and Sholto manage to escape the water-filled room and go to the cell where Rye hopes to find Sonia and they others, but they aren't there. Sholto then tells Rye that they are being held hostage and are to be a test for the new skimmers.... Rye still doesn't give up and uses a cloak that makes him and whoever he touches invisible, a red feather that helps him fly, and an armor snail shell that can help him be stronger. Then Rye and Shoto go to where the people are and Rye goes down a rope that his brothers are holding for him and he tells everyone to grab hold of the rope and they fly upwards, but then a guard called Kyte tries to shoot them, but she keeps on missing. Finally, Rye and his companions make it out of the prison and they all agree that they should go back to the City Of Weld, talk to Tallus(a healer), and go through the last door, The Wood Door. The type of conflict is person vs society because Rye needs to find a way to rescue his brother Sholto because he went through the silver door. Rye needs to rescue him,Sonia, and others that are being held prisoner. I had predicted that Rye wouldn't return with his brother Sholto, but it turned out that he did rescue his brother Sholto. I thought this because in the text it says, "I had a fearful dream," Rye said thickly. "One of the dreams that are—real. I saw Sholto...and skimmers." Another part of the text was, "at least, however terrible it was, the dream proves that Sholto is still alive," she said quietly. I understood why the red feather could make Rye and whoever he held, fly. It was so cool to be able to 'see' the character(s) fly/hover in the air! In the text it says, "I thought—if the horsehair ring helps me run, and the serpent scale helps me swim, why should the feather not help me fly?" The feather did make Rye fly, but holding hands with three other people was tricky to fly in a straight line. He could also just say "UP!" In his mind and the feather will make him able to fly! In conclusion, I think the Silver Door was a fantastic book! I give this book 5 out of 5 stars! The Golden Door was great too, but this was a fantastic book! I would recommend this to people who love action and adventure! I look forward to read The Wood Door. Keep on reading and you will have a brighter future! ~The Silver Door
review 2: Wow! What an imagination! I love the characters in this story!! I checked this out of my local library for my niece, since it was unavailable in her library. I couldn't resist reading it after her and before returning the book to the library. The adventure continues. Now on to find and rescue Sholto. There is danger, strange creatures, new magic to figure out, adventure, mystery, thriller and new characters to meet. There's despair and hope, faith, family, learning to trust, dealing with self doubt, kindness, evil and unexpected aid. A wonderful tale! less
