A Bag Full of Nuts!

Sometimes you have to try something new and by checking out what is going on in our area I found Pecan Harvesting at The Farm in South Mountain here in good old Phoenix, AZ.  It was a very nice December morning, actually a little on the cool side but it seemed perfect.  The Farm is a beautiful place with three restaurants, gardens, chickens and beautiful grounds where you can take selfies all day long!!!

We get there and start looking for pecans (psst..Leo thought he was looking for walnuts which he doesn’t like very much and when he found out that the nuts we were harvesting were pecans he started picking them up like there was no tomorrow!  Hence; the bag full of nuts!).  The pecans where everywhere, we tasted them and they were sweet and good.  We were given a tour around the grounds and told a bit on the history.  In the end the staff had treats of pecan bars, pecan shortbread and spiced pecans…yummy!

A little music playing right outside the restaurant.

We decided to try one of the restaurants while we were there.  We chose the Morning Glory Cafe because they had patio sitting and plenty of outdoor heaters.  We were seated right away and soon after the music started.   Looking around I could see why weddings are held at this location, it really is a perfect place for a small wedding.

We both order the American Breakfast.  One with bacon and the other with sausage.  As we wait for our food we look around to what others are eating and everything looked so good.  All I can think is “what am I going to order next time I come?”.

Sitting there drinking my coffee, music in the background, talking to each other in such a wonderful surrounding I can’t even tell you if we were served our food quickly or not, it just didn’t matter.  We had our breakfast and everything was delicious!  The home fries were cooked with a touch of bell peppers and onions, eggs made to order and  both the sausage and bacon were very tasty.  Our plates were soon wiped clean!

After we finish with our breakfast we walk over to the little store they have there called Botanica. Very cute little store with many unique items. At this point the wind picked up a little and we started getting a bit cold so we decide to take a few more pictures and head out.  I’m a picture person,  I just want to be able to look back at this day and remember.

Definitely a place I would love to go back to.  They have an events calendar that you can check out to see what they have coming up or just go have a bite to eat and take a stroll around their grounds after your meal.  Now the question is…what are we going to do with all those nuts!

When the weather allows it, I’d rather eat outdoors!
