THE TAJ CONSPIRACY (2012) 1.5/8 NO Thriller Rs.29 (Amazon Kindle) Manreet Sodhi Someshwar [3.49/533 ratings Goodreads]
Review #424 (Book Review #124) :
Just completed one more book, my 1st ever Amazon kindle read THE TAJ CONSPIRACY by Manreet Sodhi Someshwar. From quite some time this book was on my watch list, finally bought the kindle version for Rs.29.
Its a thriller fiction book with a conspiracy build around India’s entry to Seven Wonders monuments Taj Mahal. From quite some time we all are aware of some claims of it being a Hindu temple before it being a mausoleum. How much of it is true, nobody knows but claims are there. The writer took that idea and built this book wherein a scholar and a historical researcher of Indian-Iranian descent Mehrunisa Khosa found herself in a conspiracy amongst people who want to declare and prove Taj Mahal as a Hindu temple. She is no detective but alongwith an Inspector RP Singh, she solved the conspiracy.
Well, if you ask me, this book is totally avoidable, there are too many parallel tracks at a time flooded with too many characters. None of the character got a proper built, even some are just wasted. To build the story and to show it as a gripping thriller, the writer tried to add too much in the beginning itself, due to which I (could be you as well) lost my attention. Unconnected events, skipping some details (directly jumping from a point to other), loopholes in story, repetetive incidents are some more negative points in the book. The plot was good but story just ruined the effect, it could have been much much better structured.
Biggest let down is the lack-lusture climax and one secret which got revealed towards the end and our main characters when found the secret, it seems that they easily digested that as it was a daily affair to them to treat to such impossible secrets. As a reader I doubt that secret, it seems quite impossible to maintain. I did not recommend this book with rating 1.5/8.
