Interspersed prose/poetry: servant’s child raised by rapist boss. Captivating.
7/10
(I don’t know if those 10 words do this book justice. The sex isn’t described as violent or even unwanted. There are strong issues of women-hating-women, spouse abuse, disregard of indigenous rights, and so much more. I’ll be the first to admit that much of the poetry went over me, but it was beautiful and terribly atmospheric. It’s not my favorite book, but it is definitely worth reading.)
