Synopsis:

In this new Love Under the Big Sky series from a USA TODAY bestselling author, Cara agrees to tutor her former classmate’s nephew—and learns some lessons in love!

Josh King is an expert at running his family’s multi-million dollar ranch in Montana. (And all that outside manual labor has done wonders for sculpting his six-foot-three body, too.) But as sure footed as he is when it comes to the ranch, Josh doesn’t know anything about how to deal with an adolescent boy—so when his twelve-year-old nephew, Seth, is dropped off on his doorstep, looking scared and acting surly as hell, Josh knows he needs help in straightening him out.

Cara Donovan loves her quiet life as a teacher in her sleepy hometown, so she jumps at the chance to make a little money over the summer as a tutor. But when she learns she’ll be teaching Josh King’s nephew, Cara’s sweet summer job gets a little bit hotter. Cara tries to focus all her attention on tutoring Seth, but Josh proves to be a delicious distraction, while Josh’s memories of the shy girl he once teased in high school are nothing like the beautiful woman he’s facing now. Can he persuade her that there’s more between them than a summer fling?

Review:

At this point I have read all of Kristen Proby’s other series, this is the one I was most hesitant about because it’s very different from the others. The others all took place in a city such as Seattle, Portland, and New Orleans but this one has a more of a small hometown feel (like where I’m from) that takes place in the city, and I was a little unsure how she would do with this. This was a pretty great book and I thought that it did a great job of displaying the romances for the rest of the series.
The characters in this book were pretty enjoyable and the romance was sweet, I love how much Josh would miss Cara when she wasn’t with him, even going as far as going wherever she was at that given moment to be with her. Josh I think was my favorite out of our two main characters, along with being sweet he also was arrogant in any way, as soon as Cara came around he decided that she was who he wanted to be with, and made sure to tell her whenever she had doubts about herself and his intentions with her. Cara was also a great character, you could tell that she really cares about others, especially her students, she went above and beyond what was required to help Seth overcome issues even if at the time it wasn’t easy at the time.
As with other books, these characters are also human and also make mistakes, no matter how genuine these characters are they still had doubts and made stupid decisions that they needed to make up for later on, I feel that these made the characters more relatable a joy to read about. I don’t really have any complaints about this series, but this might be my least favorite series by Kristen Proby, the thing is I feel in her other series there was something that I connected with on a personal level and I didn’t with this one. This was a great start to the series and I will be planning on continuing this series soon.
