review 1: You should be reading this. I don't know what else to say. This book is so weird and all over the place and zany and yet it WORKS and it's filled with so much heart. This volume is essentially a time travel narrative, but with a really clever way of working it into the greater context of the CHEW world that actually makes sense. It's a great stand-alone volume, but progresses the character arcs as well as the behind-the-scenes conspiracy very significantly. This is a series that has always had a clear endpoint in mind to satisfy its "mystery box," and John Layman does a fantastic job of seeding those answers along. Rob Guillory's artwork just gets better and better, and there are SO many Easter eggs crammed into the background. It's wonderful. READ THIS SE... moreRIES.
review 2: I'm being a bit generous with those four stars, but this volume is better than the last one, even though it isn't up there with the heights this series reached earlier on. The main problem is that we don't so much get one story arc, but instead the issues collected explain some previous events and set up things for the next big arc. At least I hope so, because this collection felt rather disjointed. less
