Book Review: Need by Carrie Jones

If you are missing the Twilight Saga, I just found the perfect fit for you: the Need series by Carrie Jones. 4 novels that revolve around  Zara, a young girl that is going through a rough time after losing her step-father.

Sent to Maine by her mother after witnessing the death of her step-father, Zara is now living with her step-grandmother. In the first days she notices that someone is following her, a man that she also saw in Charleston, is making odd appearances. At the about same time when disappearances of young boys are happening.

At school she gets to meet Ian and Nick who both seam to fancy her enough to fight for the alpha male in the class. She will meet her new friends Issie and Devyn, but also Megan, the school beauty that seams to hate her because of the interest Nick shows in her.

Soon Zara will find out that life in Maine is not as normal as she would have hoped. That a pixie king is following her, that her grandmother can turn herself into a tiger, that her crush is a werewolf and that she herself has some pixie blond in her veins. She will have to team up with all of her friends and family to win the battle against the blood thirsted creatures.

If you are a fan of young urban fantasy and you want to start a new easy to read series, The Need might be a good fit for you. Personally I liked the idea of the female heroine who is not afraid to put herself at risk for her loved ones.

I only got the first book from the series and I’m not planning on purchasing the next 3 books just yet, but I do have to say that I finished the book in a few hours without being able to let it go. It would be nice to see it transformed in a movie, I believe the world is ready for a new Twilight saga.
