Broadsheet coffee

Broadsheet is a pretty new coffee house on the corner of beacon and Washington street. Supposedly they run Mediterranean. My test of a new coffee shop usually includes a tasting of their chai latte, their featured breakfast pastry, and their breakfast sandwich. I think Broadsheet didn’t pull off an impressive breakfast pastry on the menu when I went (subsequently, discovered their scones are not as light, airy and flavorful as those at Barismo) so we opted for the Belgian waffle and the steel cut oats (overnight oats?).

I have recently confirmed that the boyfriend is a tea connoisseur. The chai latte was good, appropriately spicy and not too sweet. The tea was acceptable for him. I don’t think they carry Mem tea, unlike many of the places in Camberville.

Belgian Waffle

12

seasonal fruit, house berry compote, Mapleline whipped cream

This was delicious. My only complaint was the compote was extremely tart. I avoided it. The whipped cream was almost custard-like.

Overnight Oats

8.50

with seasonal compote: gluten-free oats, cashew milk, chia seeds, maple syrup, topped with toasted cashew nuts

Same compote. Same complaint. I just don’t like tart things…

4/5 I would definitely come back, especially because it’s so close to other things I frequent. But barismo is the king for now.
