**If you haven’t read The Captive Series yet, please don’t read any further as this review may contain spoilers.**
This is a somewhat short review because, honestly, I could go on and on about this book and I don’t want this to turn into a ramble!
Atticus is a member of the family boasting the oldest of vampire bloodlines, living a life of luxury and decadence but bored to tears with it all. A fateful meeting changes his life and the world as we know it.
When I heard that Broken was going to be a prequel and that it would centre around Atticus, I’ll be honest, I was a little disappointed and confused. Why should we care about his story when we know all of the truly horrible things that he has done? The way he treats his family, the whole ‘blood slave’ thing, the cruelty he brings down on Aria… I won’t lie, I despised Atticus after reading the Captive series and never thought for a second that I would come to love, understand and even pity him. But, that is exactly what happened. If you’ve read the Captive series, then you will know that this story won’t end on a fanfare and a kiss but I promise it is worth the heartache. I have never cried over a book like I cried over this one.
It’s well written, the characters are so absorbing and the story keeps you hanging on at the edge of your seat. Another from Erica that I just couldn’t put down.
To Erica: Thank you, I didn’t know that I needed this but I did!
