In April of 2016, Nick and I were celebrating our one year anniversary and our moving in together. He surprised me with the best gift I could’ve asked for -our first odyssey cruise. From the second we stepped on board we were immediately spoiled.

I think many people see this as an addition to their bucket list. And let me tell you, that’s not a bad idea. This would not only make for a great date night but would be more fitting for a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary or Valentine’s Day.

Something Cleary stressed about the Odyssey team was that, “We know that When people come aboard they have spent a fair amount of money to cruise with us and we don’t take that lightly. We want them to feel appreciated.”

Did you know? Valentine’s Day is only 23 days away! You might want to start planning- just a word of advice.

What you can expect on the Odyssey: First and foremost you will get a boarding pass into another world. This momento is something I saved and plan to keep as a physical reminder of our experience. After this you can expect to be greeted by the on-board staff and be taken to your seat. From here you will be able to order drinks and food. After this, you are free to do whatever you want. While you wait for your meal you can relax and take in the views or like me and Nick always do, explore before anyone else wanders up to the top deck.  Nick and I always end our night by going on the dance floor – I suggest you do the same.

“We get a lot of locals who join us and I think we just oftentimes take for granted this beautiful city we live in. So the fact that we give people the opportunity to remove themselves from the hustle and bustle of the city but still be able to experience those stunning views is really special.”

What you’re paying for-  Simply put by ms. Cleary, “There’s something to me that feels so magical about looking back at the Chicago Skyline – you could live there your whole life. And being there to share it with someone that means a lot to you is really special.”

How the Odyssey is an experience unlike anything else- This experience is 2.5- 3.5 hours so there is plenty of time to soak in the views, spend one on one time and escape from the hustle and bustle of Chicago.

Personally my favorite part of the whole experience is that I don’t feel rushed like I do at a typical restaurant. As Emily explained to me, there isn’t table turnover like any other restaurant so the evening is truly yours and yours alone.
