China Light 2017 at the Antwerp Zoo

Yesterday I got to experience the 2017 of China Light at the Antwerp Zoo. During this festival from 1 December through to 14 January, you can take a stroll during the evening in the zoo following a route passing by beautiful lit up Chinese sculptures scattered throughout the zoo. This colourful and magical experience lights up the darkest months of the year and enables people to visit the zoo from another perspective. If you expect to see the animals you will be disappointed as they are all sleeping in their indoors areas, so to see them you should still visit during the day.

The first edition of China Light took place at the zoo in 2014, as this was an overwhelming success they have been doing an annual edition ever since. The China light sculptures are created by a group of Chinese artists from Zigong in the Sichuan region (famous for its light festival) and they travel all over the world, so if you cannot make it to Antwerp they might have an exposition closer to you coming soon.
