One trailer that you may or may not have seen attached to Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a film written and produced by Lord of the Rings alumni, Peter Jackson and it is Mortal Engines. The title didn’t quite grab me but the trailer below sure did and it is one film I’m now highly looking forward to in 2018. The film, which is based on the first book of the same name by Philip Reeve, is directed by Christian Rivers, who was visual effects supervisor on Lord of the Rings and involves mobile cities that battle over the world’s few remaining resources. Yes, you read that correctly. Mobile cities! You must see the trailer below to believe it.
Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.
The film stars Robert Sheehan, Hera Hilmar, Hugo Weaving, Leila George, Ronan Raftery, Jihae, and Stephen Lang.
Be patient my friends as, Mortal Engines is not scheduled to release until December 14, 2018, by Universal Pictures.
