review 1: A quick read. Having just finished it, I'm really not quite sure how I feel about it. The book could've ended in two other spots before the actual ending. What I do like is that it makes one examine one's own life... actions, values, our impact on others' lives... The ending, in particular, really makes the reader think about morality, mortality, our relationship with God, and our place in the universe. Interesting. (And remember: I almost never give 5 stars.)
review 2: I got this book as a free promotion from Amazon, and I really wish I hadn't taken the time to read it. It's part preachy anti-suicide tract and part Nice Guy! (TM) the novel. The characters in general, and the women characters especially, are terribly flat abstractions of the fantasies of
... morethe main character (who is deeply unlikeable). I understand this book is much beloved in France, so I'm going to assume something was lost in the translation of language or culture. less

Thought provoking book about life and the consequences of the selfish act of suicide.

Too much Jesus at the end, and it felt rushed, but interesting idea for a story.

Heart wrenching. I spent the last 20% in tears.
