review 1: I enjoy a book with plot twists and turns that I can not easily guess by Chapter 2. Jussi Adler-Olsen provides complex story-lines and great characters that grow as the series moves along. There is a deep darkness but what "cold case" murder is not inherently dark? I learned a bit more about religious sects. Rose/Yrsa was an unexpected turn. Assad is much more than the watchful sidekick willing to learn whatever Morck has to offer...and yet, we still do not know all. I love the way the author brings humor into the story through the unusual characters and their odd lives so all does not feel bleak and morbid in the end. Although I believe that you may have more fun reading these books in order, you can enjoy them independent of order also.
review 2: The Departm... moreent Q series is clever, well-written and fast-paced.This entry finds Denmark detective Carl Morck and his team investigating a message in a bottle that had been found and misplaced years earlier. It's the perfect adventure for the keeper of lost causes.It's a great read in an enjoyable series. Guess that means I won't be able to wait for Christmas before reading the next one... less
