review 1: A delightful tale in Dickens' England, who is actually a character in this book. Can a mouse and a cat become friends and stick to that friendship and can they both restore the injured raven recuperating in the inn's attic to its rightful roost in the tower of London? A wonderful story on many levels with references to Dickens peppered throughout. The audio version is well done and would be a hit for the whole family to enjoy.
review 2: This is a good book with lots of allusions to Charles Dickens and his books. It is more slowly paced than I like. I actually listened to it as an audiobook last summer because the author came to my school and spoke in December 2013.The characters are likeable, but you need background in Dickens to get the allusions. That's why a
... moren elementary school audience may not be the best one for this book - though it isn't necessarily inappropriate either. This book is on the Georgia Book Award List this year so I will reread it.I love this author, she is outstanding as an author and in person- she's hilarious and very entertaining, but this isn't one of my favorite books by her. less

Cute and quick read. Sly references to work of Dickens makes it a fun read.
