The start of our six game Edinburgh binge saw us head to Exit Plan to take on all three of their games. Tesla Cube was our first challenge…
“The brilliant inventor and scientist, Doctor Boson, has spent a lifetime advancing and improving upon the designs of his idol Nikola Tesla. In particular, the development of an object called the ‘Tesla Cube’ – a device of near limitless power.
As his assistants, you have helped the Doctor with his painstaking work. But recently the Doctor has become withdrawn and has spent many nights working alone in his lab.
Curious, you have done some investigation and discovered that the Doctor has secretly produced a working Tesla Cube which he intends to sell to a criminal group who intend to use it as part of a terrifying weapon!
Only you are able to stop the Doctor – you must break into his office and steal the Tesla Cube before it is too late!”
The first part of the game takes place in a nice office. Office themed rooms can be a bit dull sometimes, but it wasn’t that much of an issue in The Tesla Cube. This room really isn’t about the theming – the sole focus is on the puzzles.
The game was great to play – there are some great unique puzzles in this one, and it flowed really well. We enjoyed every puzzle, even if they did start to get a bit frustrating towards the end (in a fun way!). No ambiguity or red herrings, just some nice, logical tasks. A team of two enthusiasts will do great in this room – newbies, take 3-4.
Host: Our host was David – he did a great job, and we had a nice chat with him after the games
Clue System: Clues were delivered via walkie talkie
Success? Yes! We got out in 42 minutes and 28 seconds, taking only one clue. At the time, the closest we’d got to a no clue escape…
