review 1: I've always enjoyed the majority of books by Heather Gudenkauf and I'm really looking forward to reading her new book, Little Mercies. Although this book, Little Lies, was a short teaser for the new book, I'm not sure it was really necessary. Although it will fill in a half hour reading, I didn't love it but nor did I dislike it. I guess I just thought it was pointless. My expectation for the new book is that hopefully it will be better, time will tell.
review 2: This is a quick read which can be read in an hour or so, and serves as an excellent introduction to the characters we will meet in the author’s next book, Little Mercies. Ellen Moore is a dedicated social worker, juggling her career with the demands of family life. We follow her as she attempts to... more help a four year old child who has been found next to the body of his dead mother. Little does she know that just by trying to do her job, she is going to end up in a potentially dangerous situation herself. It is a short story which I really enjoyed, it was well paced and really kept my interest piqued with a character who I definitely want to read more about. I really look forward now to reading Little Mercies. less
