Good and Bad Zombies

If I Should Die (Revanants trilogy #3) by Amy Plum

I will not lose another person I love. I will not let history repeat itself.

Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together was shattered. He was betrayed by someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now our enemy is determined to rule over France’s immortals, and willing to wage a war to get what they want.

It shouldn’t be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he’s not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.

After what we’ve already fought to achieve, a life without Vincent is unimaginable. He once swore to avoid dying—to go against his nature and forsake sacrificing himself for others—so that we could be together. How can I not risk everything to bring my love back to me?

Goodreads

If I Should Die is the third book in the Revenant trilogy by Amy Plum and it was so good, it was everything that I thought it would be.

Kate has been through a lot of stuff even before she met Vincent and his kindred. She lost her parents and in part lost herself but she still continued on. What she did wasn’t exactly called living but surviving until she could be whole one day. I feel that’s an important message that needs to get through to people, things can be really bad but if you just keep on going eventually you will see better days.

Kate wasn’t your typical ya heroine, she was human not supernatural but she still showed her value around the supernaturals, she wasn’t okay with what the revenants were at first (truth be told she still struggles a little), and she was profoundly sad through this book. However she did grow stronger as a person, she chose that world and she was pulled out of her darkness, she is one of the better characters that has been written for young adult.

Things went down exactly how I thought they would in this book. I got hints for what might happen in Until I Die, as well as thing mentioned early on in the book and I was dead on. To a lot of people that’s a problem if they could see where a plot was going (it’s some readers pet-peeves). But for me, I am a reader, I read a lot and I watch a lot of movies so my brain automatically tries to figure out where the story is going and I am pretty good at it. I don’t mind knowing where the story is going just as long as it’s good.

The Revenant trilogy was full of friendship, loss, mystery, heartache, action, trying times and mostly love. Love for your family, for friends and for a soul-mate. Kate met her destiny in this series and I am glad I got to met Kate.

Overall 4 stars One of my favorite quotes from the book.
