Hannah Grace was a late addition to the Never Fade Sessions line up. This mainly being down to the fact Irish sensation Catherine McGrath pulled out earlier on in the day because she had succumbed to illness.
Grace is a wonderful singer/ songwriter who releases her music through Never Fade Records. Now this label was founded by Gabrielle Aplin and her manager back in 2010. It gives young talent and unsigned artists a step up the music ladder. Anyhow she’s already released 2 impeccable EP’s and these being Meant To Be Kind and Mustang. Both these releases showed off her sublime songwriting skills.
This was only the 2nd time that I’ve witnessed Hannah perform live and as expected I was amazed how superb she actually was. “My name’s Hannah Grace. I didn’t really realise I was going to sing. But I’ll sing a couple of songs and see how it goes” Grace said whilst at the keyboard. It was a brand spanking new song which kicked things off and this being Oh River. Now this tune was simply sensational, Grace’s vocals were both rich and powerful. Anyhow this delicious number radiated plenty of folk vibes leaving me well and truly captivated in the process. Those hypnotising lyrics were on point, Hannah Grace does have a gift when it comes to songwriting. It definitely offered a glimpse of what to expect from Hannah Grace in the future. One word to sum up this tasty tune would be majestical. Things ended with a cover from one of Hannah’s favourite album. This being This Year’s Love which David Gray original sang. Hannah Grace’s take on this tune was so refreshing and those succulent vocals left me spellbound.
SET LIST
Oh River
This Year’s Love
OVERALL: This was one stellar set. Despite only consisting of 2 songs they were enough to quench my thirst. Oh River was literally outstanding and Hannah’s vocal tones were pure perfection. I found those sumptuous lyrics to be mesmerising and I look forward to the day when I can listen to the studio version.
