review 1: Elliot's in a quandry. His best friend Ty is out of town skiing with his girlfriend and his brother Jackson is coming into town. Elliot's been avoiding Jackson for years, his straight guy asshole-ish antagonism towards Elliot grates on Elliot's nerves, maybe especially becomes he has a wee bit of an obsession with the guy. He's just so...hot...and well confident, and just yeah...yummy. Too bad he's such a dick. Now said dick is outside getting poured out of a cab drunk off his ass. Great, just what Elliot needs. This was cute and Jackson's little ploy to get in the door and see what Elliot's feelings really were was kinda sweet in a way. My biggest problem with the story was the characters never felt very consistent and while I liked Elliot a lot I never felt like I ... moregot much of a handle on Jackson. At times he felt like he was Mr. Shy Guy under all that bluster and other times he was all dominant want. Just didn't work smoothly for me though I did like Elliot and felt for the poor guy as his life was being tossed upside down. Hope of all the things he wanted dangled in front of his face and not really sure he could grab on with both hands.Worth seeing what more this author has out there though. :)
review 2: ETA: After reading (and loving) Vanessa North's The Lonely Drop, I decided to re-read her DRiTC book from last year and see how it held up. It definitely held up; in fact, I liked it even more the second time. I've read A LOT (literally 100s) of short stories since I read this one earlier this year and I've found that enemies to lovers is one of hardest tropes to make work when you've got a limited number of words to work with. It's even hard when you've got a 100,000 words to work with, but, she managed to make the switch seem authentic for these characters within one scene. It's also really funny. Now I need to go read everything else she's written. :-DOriginal Review:Cute enemies to lovers romance. less

There was nothing for me here. Absolutely nothing. Skimmed to the end. A lot of sex, a lot.

Set up didn't make a lot of sense to me but otherwise a sweet story.
