He is mine Episode 26: Lisa crashes on Mark

Lisa a finalist student at Hacks College had best weekends courtesy of Omuinda, her sponsor. He could often pick her on Friday evenings and drop her on Sundays at midnights. In some days she could be dropped on Monday morning. If anyone had experience of a college lifestyle was Lisa.

There was a new neighbour who was giving her sleepless nights. At first she thought that he was Derrick only to realize that they only resembled. The young man in the neighbourhood was Marko, a photojournalist working for local TV station who had been deployed to cover Buratso village. He had athletic body and liked tight t-shirts, tight jeans and sneakers. He was the talk of Marianga trading centre. Young ladies could be spotted from far, stealing glances whenever he passed. Lisa did her investigation to establish whether he was married or not. Luckily he was not. He would often be seen hanging around men or alone. To Lisa this was ideal guy for her and she had been anxiously waiting for that moment to come. Alice will be jealous of me. She thought. She could often stand at the door staring at him mop the floor. When caught she feigned being committed elsewhere. The curiosity and urge to talk to him grew each day she saw him. She longed to talk to him. She knew incase she delayed as she did before someone would grab Mark and leave her desperate again and maybe this time forever.

It was on Sunday morning at 11.00 am and Mark was washing his clothes. Lisa knew this was a rare chance and she seized the opportunity. Lisa went to fetch water but because other women were also on queue waiting she changed her mind. “I am not just lucky” she thought. She left in hurry with her bucket. By bad lack she hit a small stone on the way and hit the ground with a loud thud. Everyone including Mark ran for her rescue.

“Are you ok?” Mark asked as he helped her to stand.

“My back!!” she said writhing in great pain as she gained consciousness.

He offered to help her to her room. Lisa was more grateful because seemingly things were working according to her plans. Mark however didn’t stay long he left after his phone rang persistently. He however promised to checker on her later in the day. Lisa thanked God for she knew good things were coming her way soon if not that very day.

Alice had made a habit visiting Derrick frequently on weekends. Barely one day after Derrick’s people met her parent, had she visited Derrick. She was also sending a clear message to lousy and mouth watering young girls who were eyeing him to know that he was fully booked. On that day she arrived at 11.00 am. After lunch Derrick took her for a surprise date along the banks of Chololo stream. It was one place that Derrick often visited while still a young boy. Now a grown up man he rarely visited the place unless he had gone to survey their maize plantation or arrow roots. There was a huge tree and besides it were two large rocks lying apart. Derrick sat on one rock and ushered Alice to sit on the other rock.  To his surprise she walked slowly giving him magic smiles as she sat between his thighs.

“Are you afraid?” Derrick asked.

“Mmhhh!! Not, is only that the place is strange” she replied.

“Well now you’re safe right her” he assured her.

“Sure! Thanks” she replied at an army of ants that were passing by.

The afternoon serene was convenient for the two lovers.  The sensation that cold but slow wind gave them a relaxed mind. Voice of waterfall from Chololo stream could be heard from far.  Alice had never been at such a place before. She loved it and wished that forever she would be taken at such a place.

“Why have you never told me about this place before” she asked breaking the silence.

Derrick was still concentrating on curling her long hair when she asked.

“Well, I was waiting for the right moment and here we are” he replied.

“Sure thanks but it is a nice place wish we would be coming here daily” she suggested.

“Ok if you say so, although I thought you won’t like it” he replied.

Alice gave him a knowing look. It was rare for girls like Alice to be taken dates along river banks for a date. Derrick was a lucky man to have got Alice. Although she was brought up in a well to do family preferably better than Derrick’s, she was simple and well domesticated.

“So you thought I could hate the place? In fact this is the best date you’ve ever taken me out” she shocked.

Derrick blushed. It was rare thing for Derrick to do such thing especially in front of a woman.  But that day he could not hide his feelings. He was flattered.

“I am flattered for sure” he replied.

Unknown to Alice, Derrick had another surprise for her. A ring. He thought it was the best place to propose. If anything Alice was high in her spirits and since he knew her well it was the right time to strike.

He told her to stand and went down on his knees. He drew out the ring.

“Will you marry me?” he asked Alice after composing himself.

Alice run out of words, her heart beat faster. She never saw it coming. She could not help herself as tears freely rolled down her cheeks. Her mouth was wide open as she sighed with great relief before saying.

“Yes I can’t wait dear” she said.

Derrick stood and hugged her tightly. It was a moment both of them had been waiting for so long. It marked a new turn in their love life. It was a pre-match or a rehearsal for their marriage which was to follow soon. From far they could hear kids laughing from far. They must have been watching them since they arrived at the scene.
