How Startup culture is shaking up the lingerie industry from its roots!

Like most other industries, startup culture has revolutionized the lingerie industry as well. Lingerie startups are mushrooming everywhere and we simply love it! With so much churning on the anvil, can the industry remain the same? Probably it may never be the same. Here are we, analyzing the trends, whether good or bad and whether there is any grain of truth behind the tall claims of ‘innovations’, game changers and many more.

Fixing already solved problems?

Take for instance, the curious case of Naja, which claims to be a “premium lingerie brand with a social impact. A lifestyle brand for conscious millenials.” The brand makes a mention of “adaptive supply chain’ which is ‘greener, faster more profitable than anything on the planet.” The catch – many brands have been doing the same for quite some time. The brand, though, has some big names as its initial backers and has

Another lingerie startup Trusst Lingerie, which focuses on full-bust bra size, makes use of a 3D-printed bra core, named BAST (Breast Advanced Support Technology). Surprise, it transfers the breast weight to the core… thus relieving the strain on the upper body. Even more surprising is that a traditional well fitted bra is designed to do just that!

So, is it all about fancy names and heavy advertising?

Adore Me, tipped to be Victoria’s Secret Killer, is another case in point. The company is spending tons of cash in advertisement, but how much change has it brought to the industry remains to be seen. They have a tremendous collection, by the way which is worth checking out!

This brings me to the next point – if nothing really has changed, why so much hullabaloo? So much media coverage just for nothing? Cora Harrington from The Lingerie Addict argues that we are obsessed with ‘reinvention’, ‘disruption’ and ‘innovation’. These words create buzz like nothing else and press loves that. The fact that a number of women find their lingerie to be ill fitting and uncomfortable is another factor. Lack of knowledge about the way lingerie is manufactured, the way it fits and where to get it doesn’t help either.

It seems the lingerie industry is working with a cloak of darkness and big brands make optimum use of end customers’ ignorance. The only point about which the companies are concerned is selling their products anyhow. Wondered why everyone wants you to come over to their store? To sell you the sizes they have – who knows!

Nubian Skin: Nude lingerie and hosiery for women of color

Nubian skin has essentially given a moment to rejoice to lingerie enthusiasts. Finding nude lingerie in dark skintone was never so easy – a whole range dedicated to women of color. While the same has been attempted before, no brand was focused solely on darker complected women. Nubian skin has truly been a trend setter.

Bras from Nubian skin are not only beautiful; these are available in a large variety as well. T-shirt bras, floral lace – you name it and they have it. Payment options –include-e –USD, GBP and AUD. Up to 20 percent discount is offered to Customers outside EU on account of nonpayment of VAT.

Given that there is a marked rise in the number of lingerie startups in the recent times, some of them entirely funded by the founders, we are witnessing interesting times. While the startups offer exciting new lingerie ranges, not many of them actually revolutionize – against their claims. Nubian Skin, Adore Me, Trusst Lingerie and Naja besides many others are here to stay. These brands are already giving big, established brands a run for their money already.
