When Bird woke up, he was grumpy.

Book-a-likes: Don’t Copy Me by Jonathan Allen, Little Blue Truck by Alice Shertle

Same, Bird.  Same.  We all feel ya.  In fact, even the morning people understand being grumpy in the morning.

Bird wakes up, too grumpy to do anything except walk.  Which he does.  But then one by one the other animals start to join him.  Soon the whole crew is going on a walk together.  Everyone is copying Bird.  They go when he goes.  They jump when he jumps.

Until Bird realizes that hanging out with his friends has put him out of his grumpy mood and maybe they should all fly back to his nest for a snack!

Which they do.

Because yeah, why not.  Children’s book.

I like this one a little better than Don’t Copy Me. They’re both very similar and I found myself automatically reading Bird in Little Puffin’s voice.  But this one ends up not being so much about getting other people to go away as it is about letting your mood change when you’re hanging out with good friends.  Which I like.

I also like the artwork.  The mix of real pictures with the illustrations keeps things interesting for the grown-ups.  The many different animals let you read in a bunch of different voices that keeps baby entertained (she’s 8 months now).  This was a library checkout for us, and I’d say it’s a solid one!
