review 1: This was fascinating, and steeped in the unknown history of China, something rarely covered in American education. I've actually had some previous exposure in college, but recently I realize how large the gaps are, especially in coordinating it with world history. Needham is mentioned as a source and he is also on my reading list. I also enjoyed the description of the Emperor's Tomb, a microcosm with mercury rivers. I did however find the intrepid team's distaste for being around them little comical.
review 2: The Emperor's Tomb by Steve Berry - 3.5/5 Having now read six of the nine novels in The Cotton Malone series, I have to say, first and foremost, I enjoyed The Emperor's Tomb! With that said, although it packed a punch and was very action driven, compared
... more to the other Cotton Malone novels, it left something to be desired. Steve Berry does a wonderful job continuing with The Malone saga. He does what he does best by sending us on a world wide search, with non-stop action and adventure. Our hero Cotton Malone is once again thrust into a mission that not only pits him against unknown adversaries, but also has him trying to save friend, colleague, and companion Cassiopeia Vitt. With all Steve Berry novels we get a bit of history mixed with action, adventure, and thriller. Berry uses The Chinese culture and history to lure the reader deeper into the story, and paints a beautiful picture. With equal amounts action, adventure, betrayal, twists and history The Emperor's Tomb was an enjoyable read from start to finish. less
