In Infinite by Lori M. Lee, the sequel to Gates of Thread and Stone, there’s a new enemy. The plot to this one is vastly different from the first one. There’s a city across the Outlands that is in danger and they sent someone to Kai’s city. They begged for help against the demons that were attacking their home. Kai and a few of the sentinels, along with Mason, returned to the far-off city to examine what was going on. This is where things got a little skeptical as Kai was seconding guessing her judgments.
Reaction:
This sequel gave me the same feelings as the first one which was still fresh in my mind from finishing it only a day prior. Kai’s character development in this one was a rocky one. She had guilt from what happened at the end of the first book as well as conflicting feelings with Avan and Reev. I felt as if I could relate to her more in this book, dealing with the conflicts in her life. I also was silently rooting for Mason in this one more than the last book.
I finished reading this book in three days, staying awake till 1 in the morning at one point. The world and character building that Lee writes in this book is beautiful. She makes you fall in love with her characters and ache when something horrible happens to them. The morning I stayed up till 1 reading I had to find out what happened, I was too intrigued by the betrayal that seemed to be happening.
There’s supposed to be a third book but I don’t know if it is being published. I need to know what happens! I need that third book.
Lesson to learn here, don’t second guess a judgement you have about someone or something. Sometimes people can seem extremely genuine but can be secretly plotting against you.
