review 1: Again, as I've said before, I'm a sucker for a good romantic thriller. I also like them on the grittier side, as opposed to the books that harken back to the woman-in-jeopardy suspense novel. Senseless fits the bill, all the way. Eva is a tough, tortured, survivor of a heroine with bitterness, anger & loyalty - as she should since she was convicted of a murder she is sure she didn't commit. Since she can't remember that complicates matters. The gruesome killer who stalks the victims has grim fates in store for them, and anyone who gets in the way. And there's a cop who has to find the truth before Eva and those she's come to trust, suffer the consequences. There were a lot of characters, some from the past, some from the present, but the threads were all tied up nicely, th... moree reveals caught me unawares and the action was great. Suspensful, with wonderfully diverse secondary characters (something I love to see in any book of any genre). And I'm wondering if it is just me, or are we seeing the proliferation of coroners and medical examiners in suspense novels, and their growing roles in these books? My only complaint - a couple of loose ends that were not wrapped up, including one that puzzled me - but perhaps it is a lingering detail for another story? As with the complete Mary Burton canon - definitely a white-knuckle read.
review 2: First off, this is not a unique storyline. I have read several thrillers that revisit secrets of college life only to have them haunt the girls later in life. That being said, this is the first of a series that will surround sisters and cops. The characters are well developed, the thrills take off midway through the book and the beginning chapters are somewhat too mysterious to "get into" the book. That being said, it has one heck of an ending, some really good thrills and a few side stories that get a good link by the end. I will be interested in seeing how the series manifests itself. If you are not put off my a somewhat worn out storyline, then this a thriller to pick up. less

Still addictive. And I love the way the books are subtly linked by the tertiary characters.

The book had a disturbing and distracting lack of commas.
