The Books of Umber
review 1: The second installment of the evergrowing mystery of a young boy who has lost his identity, and is discovering newfound abilities of his, or are they? Hap continues to learn about his identity, and Umber continues to get himself into trouble. Catanese really captures the reader's intrest witin the first few pages and keeps you reading till the last word, leaving you anxious the final part of Happenstance and Umber's unique story.
review 2: I went into this assuming that it would be good, but not as good as the first, because sequels rarely are, but I was pleasantly surprised! I think I loved this more than the first book. The adventures Hap, Umber and Oates have are just so fun. P.W. Catanese fully developed this world and the characters in it, which makes
... more it a thoroughly satisfying read. Normally, reading about mystical worlds and creatures that are extremely weird would be off-putting, but these are so finely developed that it was nothing but fascinating. I loved getting to know Umber, Hap and Oates even more. Their distinct personalities are a blast to read about. I am excited to read the third! less
