Hi everyone!
I rarely pick a TBR for the month since I’m a big mood reader, but I thought it’d try to stick to it this year to get some sort of structure to the way I pick out books from my physical TBR.
As I have finals coming up in the next weeks, I’ve only chosen 6 books. I’ll be pretty shocked if I manage to run out of books to read before the month ends.
Kingdom of Sleep by E. K. JohnstonA companion to one of my favourite books of 2016, A Thousand Nights. I believe this is a Sleeping Beauty retelling, from what I’ve read so far (barely 30 pages). It’s set several decades after the story on the other book, and I’m quite lost with the world.
There’s a free kindle novella called The Garden of Three Hundred Flowers that I might read to get more enjoyment out of the book.
Acceptance (Southern Reach #3) by Jeff VanderMeerThe movie for the first book of the trilogy, Annihilation, is coming out on February 22nd, and I want to finish reading this Sci Fi saga before that date.
The second book was kinda disappointing for me, since I loved the first book and I had high expectations for it. But I can’t wait to finally get answers to the many questions I have about Area X.
Armada by Ernest ClineThis has been in my TBR for almost 2 years now. My friends are huge fans of Ready Player One, the debut novel of Ernest Cline that is becoming a movie in late March. They half-forced me to read that, and since I liked so much the writing style, they gave me Armada as a birthday present.
Now, alien abductions aren’t my thing, that’s why this book sat unread on my shelves for so long. But I’m kind of determined to read it very soon.
It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned VizziniAnother book from the very bottom of my TBR pile. I bought this when I first started coming out of my big adolescence reading slump. Back then I was really into contemporary stories, and this sounded fun… Truth is, I hadn’t read the synopsis.
I put off reading it because of the very heavy topics it describes, but I think I need to face my fears and read this once and for all.
City of Bones (TMI #1) by Cassandra ClareI can’t wait to start my year long readathon of all The Shadowhunters Chronicles! I explain the details of the readalong I’m participating in on my reading resolutions for 2018 post.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Adam DouglasOne of the few books that managed to make me laugh out loud while reading it, and I’m not talking quite giggles and chuckles.
I’ve read this translated to Spanish, and I could tell I was missing a few puns here and there. Since I will be driving a lot at the end of the month I got the audiobook narrated by Stephen Fry to listen to. What better way to enjoy a book that was originally a radio series, right?
