The novel takes place in Lighthouse Bay in Australia. I am not sure if the place exists, but there is a place called Lighthouse Bay in Australia. Yet, I think this is not the same one. Lighthouse Bay is a small bay between Cape Crewe and Point Abrahamsen, forming the northern arm of Cook Bay along the north coast of South Georgia. It was charted by Discovery Investigations personnel in 1929, and was probably so named at that time because a lighthouse (now disused) was located on nearby Sheep Point.
The place is near Brisbane. Brisbane is the capital of and most populous city in the Australian state of Queensland, and the third most populous city in Australia. Brisbane’s metropolitan area has a population of 2.4 million.
Noosa is where Libby and Tristan first have lunch. Noosa Heads is a town and suburb of the Shire of Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. It is located approximately 136 kilometres north of Brisbane, the state’s capital.
The ship on which Isabella travelled was a barque. A barque, barc, or bark is a type of sailing vessel with three or more masts having the fore- and mainmasts rigged square and only the mizzen (the aftmost mast) rigged fore-and-aft.
Tewantin is where Isabella and Matthew finally reach to take the ferry to Sydney. Tewantin is a suburb in Noosa, Queensland.
