Meet Our First Cover Girl!

An Interview with Ebun, @wanshygirl

We started Blogger’s Ink Magazine to find out who bloggers are, what was interesting about them and what we could learn from them. We look for that special something that makes a blogger an inspiration to others. We chose Ebun because of her engaging username and our readers may recognize her as a contributor at an amazing online store called Zoede.com. Below is the interview with @wanshygirl. We hope you will be inspired by her story.

Question: Who is wanshygirl?

Answer: My name is Ebun Bello, I’m 21 years old and I’m a Fashion and Lifestyle blogger based in Lagos, Nigeria. I write under the pseudonym WanShyGirl which is a name that reflects my introvert personality. I started my blog as a means to share my personal style and life experiences with ladies within my age group. I equally share general life advice and tips on how to be stylish on a budget.

Question: What did you study and when did you start writing?

Answer: I studied Mass Communication at university because I always had interests in journalism and broadcasting. Towards my final year, I decided I wanted to be a Fashion Writer and I gave this a shot by starting up my Fashion Blog. Besides my personal fashion blog, I also write for an African Fashion blog – Zoede.com. I look forward to being a contributor on some fashion magazines while I keep building my personal blog.

Question: You’ve posted that you’re a shy girl. Has blogging and using social media helped you to express your inner fashionista?

Answer: I’m super glad I was born in the digital age. As a child, I was very timid and found it hard to express myself around people. Yet with the advent of social media I’m able to bring out a whole new side of me without bothering about what people think. Fashion Blogging has also given me the opportunity to connect with others like me and this gives me a sense of community. I can proudly say I’m no longer as shy as I was. I’m practically grown.

Question: What do you think can be done to empower young girls to reach their goals in life?

Answer: Girls should be taught from an early age to be go-getters. As they grow they should set realistic short and long-term goals and go the extra mile to achieve them. The journey will definitely not be easy, yet it is achievable.

Question: Who is your style icon?

Answer: This might seem strange, yet I do not have a particular icon. I pick bits and pieces from different people add my own touch and voila. I’m mostly drawn to fashion from the 70’s down to the 90’s.

Question: Who are the most significant motivating figures in your life?

Answer: My friends and family are my constant motivation. They are the one support system who are readily available when the going gets tough.

Question: Which online platforms should readers follow you on?

Answer: You can check out my blog – wanshygirl.wordpress.com & follow me on all social media platforms @WanShyGirl
