Synopsis: A teenager who spends most of his time inside a virtual reality called the OASIS very suddenly finds himself leading the hunt for an Easter Egg within the game which will make him rich beyond his wildest dreams.
TL;DR: Literally why haven’t you read this book yet
Trigger warnings: one character describes how they plan to commit suicide at one point (not graphic); nothing really beyond that beyond some light murder and homophobia
I took a sci-fi class in college and literally every time we met we ended up talking about Blade Runner in some way
I don’t have a whole bunch to say about this book because it’s all been said too well by everyone else.
The book is awesome. Unique, compelling, a roller coaster of emotions, so much fun.
Never seen this but it’s on the list nowA couple of notes – the diversity aspect kind of felt forced, but I think that’s just because it had to be slid into such a small part of the story. I appreciate the effort, though.
Minor spoiler: one character’s escape/escapades at IOI seemed to go a little too perfectly. They pretty much just slipped in and out with zero issues. I might have liked a little more drama there.
Also, the ending kind of felt anticlimactic. Yes there was a super awesome epic battle but then the final final scenes were just…quiet. Still good.
Hella pumped for the movie.
