Because sometimes, I forget to write reviews.
Or I don’t know what to say that a million others haven’t already said.
Or I didn’t like it and I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
Or I won’t do it justice.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, by J.K. Rowling
Though I hate myself for saying anything negative about J.K. I didn’t really get this book. Other than a dictionary of creatures, it didn’t feel very gripping in anyway. Its saving grace, however, was the narrator. Eddie Redmayne makes what would have been a somewhat boring script and creates laugh-out-loud moments.
Sorry Potter-heads, turns out I’m an original series purist.
Shadow of Night, Deborah Harkness
I have all the love for this book. The only reason this book doesn’t get its own review is because I’m not sure how to deal with book 2 of a series. For someone who has struggled badly with reading slumps this year, I whizzed through all 630 within days.
Prepare yourself for sleepless nights, early mornings and sneaky attempts to read while at work. Your life, as you know it, will cease to exist until you’ve finished this book.
The Thing Around Your Neck, by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
The third book I’ve read from Adichie and I’m reminded, yet again, why I love her writing so much. A lovely selection of short stories that’ll make you stop and stare into the distance whilst you ponder her words. Just how she manages to deliver so much meaning so effortlessly is beyond me.
Equal Rites, by Terry Pratchett
Another brilliant episode of the Discworld series. I am fast becoming a huge fan of Pratchett’s. This episode comes with a female protagonist and, obviously, a female voice on the audio book. I did struggle to get used to her tone but, once I had gotten used to it I was hooked.
