Keeping with the theme of my New Years Resolutions, I’ve decided to do this post today because one of my resolutions was to read more in 2018. I love a good book, I just never find the time to read but I’m hoping to change this throughout the year. In order to motivate myself to read I’ve decided to compile a To Be Read list for 2018 which I’m hoping will also give you guys some insight into what sort of books I like to read; as I mentioned in my resolutions & goals post, I’d like to add some more book content onto my blog as and when I can so maybe you can expect to see some of these books being reviewed on here! I know that there are only five books on this list, I do have many many more I want to read however these are a select few which I’m really looking forward to reading. If any of you are avid readers, I’d love some suggestions in the comments as to any books you think I’d enjoy! To keep track of my reading I’ll be using Goodreads, you should follow me here!
All pictures and synopsises are from goodreads.
I haven’t actually read The Fault In Our Stars yet, and having seen the film and really enjoying it I’d love to read it. I always find myself in tears during the film so I’m sure the book will be equally as heart breaking.
Another John Green book, I read Looking For Alaska when I was a lot younger than I am now (around year 7, so I was probably 11) and I remember enjoying it, I just don’t really remember the story all that well – I’d love to re read this in 2018.
I’ve heard such amazing things about The Perks Of Being A Wallflower and I would love to read it in 2018 and see if it lives up to it’s standards!
I read Beautiful Broken Things, also by Sara Barnard, in 2017 and I really enjoyed the story and found her style of writing really good; I didn’t find myself getting bored even though the plot of the book wasn’t the most captivating in the world (not to say I didn’t enjoy it). I’m hoping A Quiet Kind Of Thunder is also going to be as enjoyable for me!
I’ve read Between Shades Of Grey, another book by Ruta Sepetys which is all about Soviet prison camps and I found it so interesting. I really enjoy books surrounding WW2 and all things we don’t get taught about it in school, and as a book this was really informative and also enjoyable – I connected with the characters etc, but this isn’t a review. What I’m saying is that i really love Ruta Sepetys writing and her new book Salt to the Sea is one I’m eager to read as it is also about WW2 and refugees trying to escape to freedom which, again, is something we don’t learn a lot about in History.
These are only a few books I’d like to read throughout 2018, I know that it isn’t a huge list like some of the others that you see floating around the blogosphere, however there are many more I want to read I just don’t anticipate having lots of time to read books that aren’t for my English Lit GCSE – anyway, we’ll see!
Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed – have you read any of these books?
Soph xx
