My Favourite WWE festive moments !

Keeping true to their bold statement that WWE does not have an off-season, this year will mark the first time that Monday Night Raw will broadcast live on Christmas day. This can be seen as either an extra special present to the WWE Universe or an indication that Mr. McMahon is the modern-day Scrooge.

WWE programming has always joined in the festivities from ridiculous hardcore matches involving presents to wrestlers dressing up as old St. Nick himself. Filtering through all the cringe-worthy Turkey moments, I have compiled my favourite segments that spread some holiday cheer.

The Rock’s rendition of ’12 days of Christmas’ – Aired Smackdown 20th December, 2001

Nobody can deny that The Rock is one entertaining gentleman. Before he was dominating the box office in cinemas across the world, he was dominating his opponents physically in wrestling matches and mentally in hilarious promos. During an episode of Smackdown in New Orleans, the late Test was a victim of the great one’s verbal jabs. The Rock was known over the years to parody famous songs – so keeping the Xmas spirit alive – that night he chose to remix the ’12 days of Christmas’ to fit in line with all the things he would do to Test. The segment made for a great Christmas moment with the cringe-meter at a low because the audience really enjoyed it – as did the millions watching at home.

Ric Flair throws a Christmas party … Wooooo! – Aired Monday Night Raw 24th December, 2001

WWE struck gold with a lot of comedy segments during 2001 when WCW was mixed up in their crazy world. During a time where both Vince McMahon and Ric Flair co-owned the WWE in the storylines, it was only fitting that both hosted individual Christmas parties that year.

Ric’s party seemed to have a lot more flare over Vince’s due to the fact he had Stone Cold attend his who at the time delivered every segment with his unique comedy style. The party had Big Show doing impressions and Tajiri dressed up as Santa – but the highlight of the entire segment had to be Stone Cold on his guitar and the Big Red Machine Kane strumming it upon Austin’s request.

A Stone Cold Santa – Aired WWE Tribute for the Troops 25th December, 2003
It’s no secret that Stone Cold is known for raising hell and handing out stunners – out of everyone, it is Vince McMahon that is aware of this fact the most. in 2003, the WWE visited the armed forces in Baghdad and put on the very first Tribute for the Troops show that soon became a yearly occasion. Austin dressed up as Santa, gave Vince a stunner and gave a kick-ass speech to the troops.

A DX Christmas – Aired Monday Night Raw 22nd December, 1997

This one is pretty self-explanatory. If in 97′ Shawn Michaels and Triple H are in the ring during a special occasion, they will do everything possible to make it x-rated and truly live up to the craziness of the attitude era.

Alberto almost kills Santa – Aired Monday Night Raw 24th December 2012

Del Rio has been known to rub people off the wrong way in his time at WWE, but the worst thing he has ever done is run over Santa Claus himself which did not go down well with his backstage companions. Booker T delivered a speech updating the superstars on the condition of Santa with a very irate John Cena voicing his anger which leads to a Miracle on 34th Street Fight between the pair.

A Stone Cold Stunner to Santa – Aired 22nd December, 1997
Earlier we discussed Austin dressed as Santa but back in 97′ when his career was sky rocketing, he paid a visit to old St. Nick. Austin would question the validity of Santa and asked the audience to give him a ‘Hell No’ if they believed he wasn’t the real Santa. Of course, the audience gave the rattlesnake the go ahead to open a can of whoop ass on Santa… Oh merry hell yes!
