If there is one thing I like to splurge on with makeup, it’s eyeshadow palettes. I just love mixing and matching different shades from different palettes, and also that feeling of opening a brand new palette and seeing all the untouched, pretty colours!
I think it’s a seasonal thing too with eyeshadow, as well as an occasion-specific thing. I wear my eyeshadow differently depending on if I’m going to work, to a gig, out for dinner, or just going shopping. Then when its autumn I stick to coppers and browns, in the winter I head more for the greys and in the spring and summer I like a hint of subtle pink and gold here and there.
The first luxury brand eyeshadow palette I have ever had was a present from my best friend, the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. It’s a mix of shimmer and matte neutral shades, with mainly coppers, golds and browns. There are also two silver tones and a black too, so it has everything you could need. It’s highly pigmented and a little goes a long way with this one. It’s a true beauty cult classic!
I have mentioned this palette a few times on my blog before, but the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette was 100% my best purchase of 2017. I bought it on our honeymoon at a Sephora in Rome (which makes it extra special!) and I wore it every day of the rest of our time in Italy and on a weekly basis since being home. Not only does it smell like chocolate (yum!) but it just looks so pretty when you open it and see the mix of pinks, burgundy, purples, neutrals and browns. My favourite shades in this palette are Marzipan, Haute Chocolate and Cherry Cordial, so gorgeous! And I also use Triple Fudge a lot as an eyeliner now, regardless of which palette I use when I go for a full face of make up.
My third luxury eyeshadow palette is this gorgeous all-matte one by Tarte. The Tartlette palette is one I have wanted for a LONG time, but it’s not been in the UK until quite recently when I spotted the brand on QVC’s website. I’ve watched all my fave American beauty bloggers use Tarte products for ages and now I own one too! Featuring 12 gorgeously matte shades in shades of pink, purple and brown as well as 2 beautiful highlight shades, this palette has been my go to since hubby got it for me for Christmas. I love putting Natural Beauty in my crease, Super Mom on my brow bone and Force of Nature across my lid.
I always feel good about my makeup when I use one of these three palettes, I sometimes mix and match them too! I’m currently using the Tartlette and Chocolate Bar ones together a lot at the moment for something a little different. When it comes to eyeshadow palettes I like to spend a little more as I find the cheap ones aren’t as pigmented or easy to blend. These ones blend like a dream and look fabulous, so I think they’re worth saving up for a treat!
