New wine! Come and drink deeply!

In this new year, what new adventures will you live out, with God’s help?  Are you open to leaving the old and comfortable behind, if it is not working, and following Him into fresh new directions?

And He was also telling them a parable: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.  And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined.  But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.  And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’”                 Luke 5:36-39

Are you in a desert place now, desperately thirsty for satisfaction and fulfillment?  Is this a time for you of waiting and wondering?  In this new year, have the courage to open your hands and receive His “traveling orders” for you.  This is His kind gift to you.  He has assured us that His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matt. 11:30).  In following Him, we will find rest for our souls.

Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters;
And you who have no money come, buy and eat.
Come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without cost.
“Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,                                                                               And delight yourself in abundance.              Isaiah 55:1-2

Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.  He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’”  But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.            John 7:37-39

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.         Revelation 22:17

May God richly bless you in this new year with His presence and guidance.
