What. The. Hell. No seriously. What the hell? This book was an absolute shit storm from start to finish. None of the characters that I have grown to know and love were present in this book. Instead you have these faux characters. I didn’t recognize Marcus at all. Same for Jessica Darling. They were acting extremely strange even for the circumstances. Jessica was a nervous wreck with some kind of mystery going on that wasn’t fully explained. Something to do with one of her mentees that reminded her of herself having an accident. But that didn’t explain everything, why was she pretending to have her menstrual cycle? Was it really so that she wouldn’t have sex with Marcus? Really?
And then the infamous Marcus Flutie was just…weird. He turned into a stalker bordering on psycho. And I didn’t like that in his time apart from Jessica he slept with one of his older professors. Ew. How lost do you have to be to do that?
Final Rating: 1 out of 5 stars. Maybe my younger self had the right of it when she didn’t finish this series and only read up to book 3. That’s when everything stopped being interesting and just downright depressing. Book 5 was by far the most disappointing book in this series and read like a really horribly written fanfiction. The inner monologues were too lengthy and went off on too many tangents and the characters obviously had gone to the Twilight Zone.
Bookshelf worthy? Don’t be like me. Avoid this book at all costs.
