Play On by Samantha Young

What it’s about:

Nora O’Brien chased a dream from Indiana to Scotland, so sure it was the right thing to do. Three years later she was left in her adopted country with nothing to her name but guilt and regret. Until Aidan Lennox entered her life. It’s an instant connection and Nora is finally feeling like life is going her way.

But when Aidan has an unexpected loss, instead of reaching for her he disappeared. Instead of falling apart Nora is inspired. She fires up her spirit – the anger and hurt pushing her forward to take control and reach for her dreams. Then Aidan comes back into her life, but she’s not giving up her life this time.

What I thought:

My Rating:

”You would think after numerous attacks of grief the human body would be unable to process any more sadness. But our hearts have an annoying amount of endurance.”

Wow! That was one incredible, emotional ride. I can’t say I loved Nora, some of her choices drive me crazy and at times I felt like her reasoning was crazy but her story really drew me in and I felt every emotion eating away at her. I got frustrated and angry and heartbroken along with her. And, as expected from a Samantha Young book, I fell head over heels for Aidan along with her.

I felt like this book was far more emotional than any of Young’s other books but I’m glad is still had a HEA. This book took it’s characters through a more emotionally painful journey that led them to where they were supposed to be and I loved it.
