Review: The Flame Never Dies (The Stars Never Rise Duology #2) by Rachel Vincent

Goodreads Blurb:

One spark will rise.

Nina Kane was born to be an exorcist. And since uncovering the horrifying truth—that the war against demons is far from over—seventeen-year-old Nina and her pregnant younger sister, Mellie, have been on the run, incinerating the remains of the demon horde as they go.

In the badlands, Nina, Mellie, and Finn, the fugitive and rogue exorcist who saved her life, find allies in a group of freedom fighters. They also face a new threat: Pandemonia, a city full of demons. But this fresh new hell is the least of Nina’s worries. The well of souls ran dry more than a century ago, drained by the demons secretly living among humans, and without a donor soul, Mellie’s child will die within hours of its birth.

Nina isn’t about to let that happen…even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

My Review:  3 stars

So this book to me an abnormally long time to read. This is not the fault of the book. But the holidays’ fault. With December just past I realize that my reading TBR list was way too long as I didn’t get to finish it. Going forward for December next year, my TBR list will be much shorter than that.

This book was good. Had a couple of twists and turns that I enjoyed. Developed characters that I really enjoyed. The plot though. I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the other novel. I understand why it took this turn. But I still didn’t enjoy it all that much. I was one of those books that didn’t really get me entrapped in the story. I love Rachel Vincent as an author, however, this novel just was kinda flat for me. This will not dissuade me from reading more of her works though, as like I said, she is a fantastic author. Overall this novel I gave 3 stars. It wasn’t a bad book. Just wasn’t great to me.

In the coming days, I will be posting my January 2018 reading TBR list and the reading goal that I have set myself for 2018. I want to read primarily from my shelf, with room for a few new releases here and there. I have accumulated quite a few books that I would like to enjoy before purchasing anything else that is new. This is not to say that I won’t be buying more books, just not right this second.

Happy reading and Happy New Year! 2018 will be a heck of a ride!
