Stayed up until 4am because I HAD to read this in one sitting.

Alexander and Sara Jane have been together since the day she turned 18, about 3 years. They’re ridiculously in love and matter more to each other than anything else in the world… at least that’s what SJ thought.
The day SJ and Alex met was the day of his mother’s funeral. Days before she had been murdered in a mugging and it remains unsolved. But was it a mugging? Alex doesn’t seem to think so, and his obsession with finding those responsible is beginning to take a toll on his relationship with SJ. He’s been sneaking out in the middle of the night and hiding secrets, and SJ’s fed up with it.

SJ and Alexander have that immeasurably passionate love for each other that doesn’t seem to make much sense, but with Scott’s writing, it’s beyond convincing. The emotions are strong with this story. You’ll get mad, you’ll get jealous, sad, a little happy, maybe even cry a little. It’s so powerfully written that it’s hard to separate the story from reality. The characters are real and sympathetic.
SJ’s evolution from naive, protected girl to a bada** woman that won’t be walked over is empowering. Despite that Alex did some really dumb crap throughout the book I was still rooting for him and SJ to find their HEA.

This is the first book in a two-book series, so be warned that it does end in a cliffhanger that can bring tears to your eyes.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
