This was an easy read. I flew through it. I picked it up because I saw a BookTuber rave about it in a video a while back. It seemed right up my alley, so I gave it a shot.
I wouldn’t say that this is the best book in the world, but it certainly wasn’t the worst. The plot had enough suspense that I didn’t want to set down the book.
Early in the story I had suspicions on who attacked Melanie. Then, the book threw some twists and turns and I wasn’t too sure anymore. It was around halfway through the story when I realized who actually attacked the main female protagonist. It was a simple form of dramatic irony.
The story was somewhat repetitve. Melanie was always apologizing and being super insecure. Being in her position at one point (minus the traumatic experience), I understand where she was coming from. However, she was so insecure that she always thought everything was her fault when in reality it was someone elses. I was only slightly annoyed because I realized that Melanie was only human and had insecurities, but I never met someone who thought so lowly of themselves. I think my annoyance was because I couldn’t help her realize that she’s worth more than she thought.
Most of the characters were likable, except one. Sissy was your stereotypical mean popular girl at the high school. Personally, through my own experience, I never had one specific popular mean girl that was mean to everyone to their faces. Most of them target their so-called friends more discreetly. It’s sad either way.

He’s the ultimate book boyfriend. He’s super supportive and loves to cuddle. *swoons*

She’s the friend that you want because she’ll stick with you forever. She cares for you but doesn’t take your crap. What more can you ask for in a friend?

Her name is quite like her personality. All she does is hiss like a sissy.
I give this story a 4 / 5 BBC Sherlock heads. It was a quick and easy read.
