Single Review: Marlene – Miss You A Little

Marlene is the gift that keeps on giving with new single
Frequent readers of this blog might have already noticed that I am a big fan of Swedish pop star Marlene. She might not yet be on Zara Larsson or Tove Lo levels of international fame yet, but that must be a matter of time surely, right!? She gave the world a first taste of her pop fabulousness with her impressive debut EP Indian Summer back in 2014. She channeled her inner 90s Britney on 2016 single ‘All I Want’ and hit us in the face with the deep beat of ‘Sweet’, released last year as well. She reached her full potential with the deliciously catchy ‘Next To Me’, taken from the Sweet EP, one of the best proper pop singles released so far this year. Now she is back with its follow up, titled ‘Miss You A Little’.

Compared to her most recent output, Marlene slows down the pace slightly with an endearing song about heartbreak. Marlene pours her heart out about a situation in which you know you should not miss the other person, but you can’t help it. “I told myself that I’d be alright, but I’m not at all, ’cause I really miss you a little”, she sings about the moment all of us will experience at least once in our lives. Marlene would not be Marlene if she did not package this with a bright  shining chorus and a flawless chorus. Gosh, she is a gift that keeps on giving, isn’t she? Hopefully she will give us her proper debut album soon!
