Even sunshine on a day that promises highs of only 36 degrees can be uplifting. Sitting in the warmth of our sun room, I can imagine the blue sky is really a spring sky, even in the midst of winter chill. I have crystal prisms sitting on my window sills; the sun transforms my sky blue walls into a background for rainbows of all shapes and sizes displaying the colors we all learned by the acronym Roy G. Biv.
Lovely bright sunlight can heat, give food for plants, warmth to animals, and precious life on Earth. Only the Son could join with the Father of all creation in the detailed design of all that is and will be. There is no way my mind can grasp the intricacies involved in creation; I can only thank You, Dear Lord, for allowing me the many opportunities to revel in the warmth of our life-giving sun that shines on all Your children. No matter the temperature, no matter the season, the Son is there to comfort mentally, physically, and spiritually. Praise and Glory to Your Magnificent Omniscience; I am blessed to be a part of Your loving creation and beneficiary of Your vast provisions. Amen
We often hear of bad weather, but in reality, no weather is bad. It is all delightful, though in different ways. Some weather may be bad for farmers or crops, but for man all kinds are good. Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating. As Ruskin says, “There is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.” ~John Lubbock, “Recreation,” The Use of Life, 1894
For the Beauty of the Earth
Author: Folliott Sandford Pierpoint 1864
For the beauty of the earth,
for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth
over and around us lies.
Refrain:
Christ, our Lord, to you we raise
this, our hymn of grateful praise.
For the wonder of each hour
of the day and of the night,
hill and vale and tree and flower,
sun and moon and stars of light, [Refrain ]
For the joy of human love,
brother, sister, parent, child,
friends on earth, and friends above,
for all gentle thoughts and mild, [Refrain]
For yourself, best gift divine,
to the world so freely given,
agent of God’s grand design:
peace on earth and joy in heaven. [Refrain]
