Soon Sunday PLUS Some Exciting Info About Ace of Shades

It’s that time of the week again. But before I talk about my most anticipated books for March, I have some info about one of my most anticipated books of the entire year.

If you don’t follow my Twitter, you might not know that I’m part of the Shadowgang, a group of bloggers, bookstagrammers, and other people spreading the hype for Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody. Ace of Shades comes out April 10th. There is an exciting preorder campaign: http://www.amandafoody.com/ace-of-shades-exclusive-pre-order-gift/

You will get bookmarks, a signed bookplate, and a quiz to see which gang in the book you’d be in if you send your info and proof of preorder to the link. I’ve read the first two chapters and they were amazing. This book is going to be a good one; I can already tell. But don’t take my word for it. There are already over 50 Goodreads reviews with an average rating of about a 4.5. Here’s the Goodreads synopsis:  Welcome to the City of Sin, where casino families reign, gangs infest the streets…
and secrets hide in every shadow.

Enne Salta was raised as a proper young lady, and no lady would willingly visit New Reynes, the so-called City of Sin. But when her mother goes missing, Enne must leave her finishing school—and her reputation—behind to follow her mother’s trail to the city where no one survives uncorrupted.

Frightened and alone, her only lead is a name: Levi Glaisyer. Unfortunately, Levi is not the gentleman she expected—he’s a street lord and a con man. Levi is also only one payment away from cleaning up a rapidly unraveling investment scam, so he doesn’t have time to investigate a woman leading a dangerous double life. Enne’s offer of compensation, however, could be the solution to all his problems.

Their search for clues leads them through glamorous casinos, illicit cabarets and into the clutches of a ruthless mafia donna. As Enne unearths an impossible secret about her past, Levi’s enemies catch up to them, ensnaring him in a vicious execution game where the players always lose. To save him, Enne will need to surrender herself to the city…

And she’ll need to play.

Now, to my most anticipated books in the month of March. I know I’m skipping an entire month, but I’m on a strict book buying ban for the month of February. Wish me luck. (Every synopsis will be from Goodreads.)

Restore Me (Shatter Me #4) by Tahereh Mafi – March 6th

Juliette Ferrars thought she’d won. She took over Sector 45, was named the new Supreme Commander, and now has Warner by her side. But she’s still the girl with the ability to kill with a single touch—and now she’s got the whole world in the palm of her hand. When tragedy hits, who will she become? Will she be able to control the power she wields and use it for good?

The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One (The Princess Saves Herself in This One #2) by Amanda Lovelace – March 6th

The witch: supernaturally powerful, inscrutably independent, and now—indestructible. These moving, relatable poems encourage resilience and embolden women to take control of their own stories. Enemies try to judge, oppress, and marginalize her, but the witch doesn’t burn in this one.

DROPKICKromance by Cyrus Parker – March 6th

A collection of autobiographical poetry about healing and learning to love again from professional-wrestler-turned-poet, Cyrus Parker.

The first half of DROPKICKromance focuses on a toxic, long-distance relationship the author was involved in for several years, while the second half focuses on his current relationship with poet Amanda Lovelace. Ultimately, the collection tells about a profound journey of healing.

Miles Away From You by A.B. Rutledge – March 20th

I want to preface this one saying that I’m quite wary of it and might not end up reading it. I’ve heard some very bad things about it along with some very good ones. I’m not sure if I should give it a shot or just forget about it.

It’s been three years since Miles fell for Vivian, a talented and dazzling transgender girl. Eighteen months since a suicide attempt left Vivian on life support. Now Miles isn’t sure who he is without her, but knows it’s time to figure out how to say goodbye.

He books a solo trip to Iceland but then has a hard time leaving the refuge of his hotel room. After a little push from Oskar, a local who is equal parts endearing and aloof, Miles decides to honor Vivian’s life by photographing her treasured Doc Martens standing empty against the surreal landscapes. With each step he takes, Miles finds his heart healing–even as he must accept that Vivian, still in a coma, will never recover.

Told through a series of instant messages to Vivian, this quirky and completely fresh novel explores love, loss, and the drastic distances we sometimes have to travel in order to move on.

Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi – March 27th

This is by far my most anticipated book of March and I can not wait for it!

For Penny Lee high school was a total nonevent. Her friends were okay, her grades were fine, and while she somehow managed to land a boyfriend, he doesn’t actually know anything about her. When Penny heads to college in Austin, Texas, to learn how to become a writer, it’s seventy-nine miles and a zillion light years away from everything she can’t wait to leave behind.

Sam’s stuck. Literally, figuratively, emotionally, financially. He works at a café and sleeps there too, on a mattress on the floor of an empty storage room upstairs. He knows that this is the god-awful chapter of his life that will serve as inspiration for when he’s a famous movie director but right this second the seventeen bucks in his checking account and his dying laptop are really testing him.

When Sam and Penny cross paths it’s less meet-cute and more a collision of unbearable awkwardness. Still, they swap numbers and stay in touch—via text—and soon become digitally inseparable, sharing their deepest anxieties and secret dreams without the humiliating weirdness of having to see each other.

Thanks for reading! ❤
