Speed of Life, by Carol Weston

Hey guys! I just finished this AMAZING new book called Speed of Life, by Carol Weston. I liked it so much that I actually read it in a whole day. It just kept reeling me in! This book is about a girl named Sofia who lives in New York. Months before the book takes place, Sofia’s mother dies, and her and her father are left devastated. She tries to get over it, but it’s harder than people think it is. When Sofia’s father starts dating another woman, who happens to be very well known, she doesn’t know how to feel. The book is about how Sofia copes with her mother’s death, and the normal aspects about being a teenager. I would recommend this book for kids in 8th grade and older, as it does deal with some mature topics.

The only thing I didn’t like that much about the book was that it was a bit predictable and cliche at times, but just barely. One thing I loved, however, was that the author added in many of today’s modern issues. Also, since Sofia is Spanish, she has some thoughts in very basic spanish, and I was excited to put my years of taking spanish to use! The best part, overall, was that the teenage boys were portrayed as immature and not just like adults. They do some stupid things, and I thought it was very realistic to boys my age. I would definitely recommend this book to you all, and I hope you like it as much as I did!
