review 1: I found this to be an interesting story . I really liked the characters Liv and Auggie. Liv was a well written damsel in distress. She had plenty of likable quality's and just the perfect blend of vulnerability and strength. He was a typical , but very well written alpha hero male. He had the perfect blend of masculine appeal with a healthy dose of sensitivity. The romantic angle in my personal opinion was a little forced. I had a difficult time believing some of the behavior both main characters presented romance wise , but hey it’s a romance novel so that’s to be expected. The way the mystery surrounding Liv unfolded was intriguing and well paced. The twist and turns throughout the story were very well written. This story never felt predictable. There was also not ... moremuch “filler” this was a fast paced story. Some of the subject matter was dark and not for the squeamish who have issues with sexual material. Overall I will give this a definite “recommend” to romantic suspense readers.
review 2: I am new to The Sisters Jackson/Bush and understand Lisa Jackson is the celebrity in the family. But MY introduction to The Sisters started with Bush’s HUSH and, though the one non-collaborative Jackson book I’ve read (YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW) was a page-turner, I have to say the dexterity with the English language, the intriguing stories and the tightness with which she tells them make me more of a Bush girl, thus far. I’m starting the Jackson/Bush collaborations now and I swear I can feel when I’m reading a poignant Bush passage. At any rate...NOWHERE TO RUN is my absolute favorite and most satisfying book in a long time – by anyone. The love story is intriguing and fun, with a mysterious heroine and a sexy and believably hot leading man. I’m hoping for more Auggie Rafferty after I confessed my crush on him to Bush and she concurred... I loved the initial meeting between Auggie and Liv and how their strange attraction unfolded - and the mystery that brings the two of them together has a hideous denouement that’s just tragic and painful. And how about that crazy Rafferty clan, hey?! I can’t recommend this book enough. I loved NOWHERE TO HIDE but not quite to the level of this book and I’d say BLIND SPOT (another strange story with an awesome slow-burning – but mature - attraction) would be my second favorite among Bush’s repertoire. I can tell you if you’re going to explore the r/s work of Nancy Bush you should make every effort to read her r/s books in chronological order (see list below) and maintain a Cast of Characters list because peripheral characters in early books often reappear in later books, sometimes as leads (also locations all along coastal Oregon repeat throughout Bush’s [and, apparently, also Jackson’s] work). Heck, you’ll need a Cast of Characters list just to get through HUSH without confusing Abortion Girl with Eating Disorder Girl and Closet Case Girl. You’ll be glad you did.FYI: The chronological order of Bush’s published romantic suspense novels*: UNSEEN (2009), WICKED GAME (with Lisa Jackson) (2009), BLIND SPOT (2010), WICKED LIES (with Lisa Jackson) (2011), HUSH (2011), NOWHERE TO RUN (2012), NOWHERE TO HIDE (2012), SOMETHING WICKED (2013). NOWHERE SAFE should be out September 2013.* This list does not include her ebook romances or her Jane Kelly mysteries. less
